Overview

WebDAV lets you treat the assets on your wiki — that is, your pages and files — like any other asset on your computer. You can delete them, rename them, and copy them back and forth between your local system (your computer) and the wiki. And, with WebDAV, you can handle pages and files individually or in bulk, because you are treating them just like you would treat any other files on your hard drive.

Using WebDAV

  1. First, you will need a WebDAV client.
    • For Mac and Windows, we recommend CyberDuck.
    • For Windows, if you are having trouble with the built-in WebDAV client, you might try AnyClient or BitKinex.
  2. Once you have your WebDAV client, navigate to your wiki, go to Settings, and select Web Folders / WebDAV under Tools. Here you’ll find the URL of your WebDAV address.
  3. Open your preferred WebDAV client, and log in using the WebDAV address and your Wikispaces username and password. You’ll see the following folders:
    • files: All the files, regardless of file type, that have been uploaded to your wiki.
    • pages: The latest version of all the pages in your wiki, as wikitext files.
    • pages_html: The latest version of all the pages in your wiki, as HTML files.
    • history: All the old versions of all the pages in your wiki, as wikitext files.
    • history_html: All the old versions of all the pages in your wiki, as HTML files.
  4. Move, copy, and delete your pages and files, individually or in bulk. There are some restrictions on which operations you can perform at various user and subscription levels. See the table below to find out more.

Restrictions

The permissions that are set for your wiki will also apply to WebDAV access. For example, a non-member of a protected wiki cannot change a page, and a non-organizer can’t delete files.

We also provide different levels of WebDAV access, depending on your wiki subscription level:
